During the 80's and 90's, enormous progress was made throughout the world in improving the design concepts, ergonomics and aesthetics of office interiors, shop-fitting and architectural renovation. New materials became available, never before seen or used in the building trade... plastic surfaces and constructions; imaginative new uses for glass; structural bonding and fixing materials such as epoxy resins; glass fibre in it's many forms and reconstituted wood-based items in both sheet and plank form. Paints and other decorative finishes also made the quantum leap towards the 21st century. No longer was "green and cream" sufficient as a surface finish... thousands of new colours were there to be chosen from, both in traditional oil based paints and in the new, easy-to-use water based media. In fact, the structures and finishes we see today bear little resemblance to those of twenty or so years ago.
